Yogi Adityanath is also well known as the mahant or head priest of the Gorakhnath Math (गोरखनाथ मठ), a temple in Gorakhpur, he succeeded his late spiritual “father”, Mahant Avaidyanath (महंत अवैद्यनाथ), in September 2014. He also founded Hindu Yuva Vahini, a Hindu nationalist organization. He is a Hindutva nationalist and a right-wing populist. अजय मोहन बिष्ट उर्फ योगी आदित्यनाथ का जन्म 5 जून 1972 को पौड़ी गढ़वाल, उत्तर प्रदेश (अब उत्तराखंड में) के पंचूर गाँव में हुआ था. उनके दिवंगत पिता, आनंद सिंह बिष्ट, एक वन रेंजर थे. वे चार भाइयों और तीन बहनों के बीच परिवार में दूसरे व्यक्ति थे. उन्होंने उत्तराखंड में हेमवती नंदन बहुगुणा गढ़वाल विश्वविद्यालय से गणित में स्नातक की डिग्री पूरी की.
योगी आदित्यनाथ ने 1990 के दशक के आसपास अयोध्या राम मंदिर आंदोलन में शामिल होने के लिए अपना घर छोड़ दिया. उस समय वह गोरखनाथ मठ के प्रमुख महंत अवैद्यनाथ के शिष्य भी बन गए. दीक्षा को नाथ परंपरा के संन्यासी के रूप में लेने पर, उन्हें ‘योगी आदित्यनाथ’ नाम दिया गया और उन्हें महंत अवैद्यनाथ के उत्तराधिकारी के रूप में नामित किया गया. अपनी दीक्षा के बाद गोरखपुर में रहने के दौरान, आदित्यनाथ अक्सर अपने पैतृक गांव का दौरा करते रहे हैं, 1998 में वहां एक स्कूल की स्थापना की.

Yogi Adityanath’s Early life
Yogi Adityanath was born on 5th June 1972 in Panchur village situated in Pauri Garhwal, Uttar Pradesh (now Uttarakhand). Anand Singh Bisht, the late father of Adityanath was a forest manager and he belongs to a family consisting of three brothers and sisters. He was the second-born child. He had graduated in Mathematics from the Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in Uttarakhand.
He joined Ayodhya Ram Temple Movement in the 1990s. Later on, he became a disciple of Mahant Avaidyanath, Chief of Gorakhnath Math. After receiving Diksha as Sanyasi of the Nath Tradition, he got the name “Yogi Adityanath” and stepped in as the successor of Mahant Avaidyanath. He is the Peethadhishwar or the “head seer” of the Gorakhanth Math.
Yogi Adityanath’s Political Career
Yogi Adityanath initiated his youth organization Hindu Yuva Vahini which gained popularity in Eastern Uttar Pradesh and was responsible for Adityanath’s fleeting success and popularity. Despite frictions between the BJP and Adityanath over the issue of election tickets, it never reached an excessive point since Yogi Adityanath has always been the star activist of the BJP. He picked up the connections Nepali Maoists and Indian Leftists parties as a major campaigning issue and persuaded Madhesi, Maoist leaders to Maoism in Nepal.
Adityanath became the youngest member of parliament at the age of 26. He was elected for back-to-back five terms from the Gorakhpur constituency. Yogi Adityanath has introduced three private members bills in the 16th Lok Sabha and he has taken part in 56 debates in Lok Sabha. It is observed that Adityanath has had a somewhat strained relationship with BJP for over a decade now. He criticized BJP for diluting Hindutva ideology.

In 1998-99, he has been in service on the Committee on Food, Civil Supplies, and Public Distribution and its Sub-Committee-B on Sugar and Edible Oils. Yogi Adityanath has been a member of the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Consultative Committee as well as the member of the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Consultative Committee. Yogi Adityanath was re-elected to the 13th Lok Sabha for a second term in 1999-2000. He also served on the Food, Civil Supplies, and Public Distribution Committee.
2004: He was re-elected to his third term in the 14th Lok Sabha. In 2017, he became the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh after the BJP won the legislative elections. He banned cow smuggling, tobacco, pan, and gutka in Uttar Pradesh’s government buildings after taking control. In the state, he also created the anti-Romeo squads.
