Georgia Football – History and Unknown Facts
The Georgia Bulldogs Football Program is a representation of the team representing the University of Georgia that plays the very popular sport, American Football. The Program was established back in 1892 and became the first group to be playing this sport in the Deep South. The initial twenty-five years were set in the background of its growth and popularity amongst the public. The very interesting game instantly gained mass popularity.
The Program was put on hold when the US entered the first world war in 1917, this led to a drastic decrease in the fortunes of the program. The program lost most of its savings funds and had to shut down for a while. The past years had made Georgia a football power however the world war was a sad twist of fate.

At one point in time, the sport football was close to being banned entirely in the state of Georgia, this could have led to the end of the sport for the entire state. Von Gammon passed away due to injuries he sustained in a match; his passing derived a lot of negative opinions on the game. However, the efforts and dedication of the players kept the sport alive and saved it from all kinds of negative opinions.
The downfall of the team came to an end in 1903 when Steadman Sanford joined the university as an English language faculty. He soon became the faculty advisor for sports programs at the university, he put in the much-needed effort to make the team rise again. The team was coached by Alex Cunningham who derived a new force in the team.
After the long-term slump at the University of Georgia wrapped, there was a newfound growth in the team’s performance. The state showed support and made donations for the same. The team is currently at its best performance ever seen.
