Maruti Suzuki Fronx First Look Review– While we were all waiting for the Jimny to be released, Maruti Suzuki was working on something extra special – the all-new Fronx. Though it appears to be a little crossover, it is actually based on the excellent Baleno, which bodes well for the Fronx’s eventual success. Maruti has done a good job of distinguishing the Fronx from the Baleno, and it is certain to be a success.
The Fronx is a Maruti SUV and crossover that lies below the Brezza and Jimny, with a butch styling that makes it appear more sturdy than the Baleno. A large bumper with integrated headlamps, an aggressive grille, and all-around black cladding contribute to its appealing design. The taillight details and the one-piece light bar connecting the taillight units stand out.

The Fronx is 3,995 millimeters long, 1,765 millimeters wide, and sits 1,550 millimeters off the ground in terms of size and road presence. Although the Fronx is slightly larger than the Baleno, the difference in size is insignificant in real life. Because the Fronx and Baleno share the same wheelbase, there is no extra space in the cabin.
How is the Fronx on the inside?
When you enter the Fronx, you’ll see that its cabin is shared with the Baleno. The steering wheel, dials, center console, and seats are all taken from the Baleno. While I like the look and feel of the Baleno’s cabin, I’m disappointed that the Fronx’s cabin is essentially identical to that of other Maruti cars in a similar price bracket. Given the amount of care put into the car’s outside appearance, it would have been good to see some originality in the cabin’s design, colors, and textures.
The Fronx is powered by a 1.2-liter petrol engine that generates 83 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque. It comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission. While not exceptionally speedy, the engine is smooth and responsive, and it is more than suitable for city driving.
Overall, the Fronx is a well-designed vehicle with significant promise. While its cabin lacks creativity, it compensates with a vast list of features and strong performance. It will undoubtedly appeal to buyers searching for a tiny crossover that is elegant, practical, and crammed with features.
What kind of features does the Fronx get?
The Fronx comes in five different flavors: Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha. Dual airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), hill hold assist, reverse parking sensors, rear defogger, keyless entry, a dual-tone interior, a 60:40 split for the back seat, front and rear power windows, automatic climate control, and a flat-bottomed steering wheel are all standard features.
Choosing the top-tier Alpha model unlocks a plethora of additional features. A heads-up display with turn-by-turn navigation, a 360-degree view camera, wireless charging, cruise control, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and a feature-rich infotainment system with a huge 9-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connection are among the highlights. As standard, the Alpha model has side and curtain airbags, steering wheel tilt and telescopic adjustment, driver seat height adjustment, rear AC vents, push-button start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and LED lighting.
What is the Fronx powered by?
The engine and gearbox options for the Fronx may be recognizable, as it has a 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The big news, though, is that the Fronx’s 1-liter, three-cylinder Boosterjet engine has made a reappearance. Its turbocharged engine produces about 100 horsepower and 150 Newton-metres of torque. Before, this engine was only available with the 5-speed manual transmission seen in the old Baleno RS, but with the Fronx, you can also have it with the six-speed torque converter automatic found in the Brezza and XL6.
The Boosterjet engine is unquestionably the best of the bunch, providing greater power and torque than the 1.2-liter normally aspirated engine. It’s lively and responsive, with a strong mid-range punch. The engine refinement is also quite good, and even when revved aggressively, it does not sound strained. The 5-speed manual gearbox is smooth and simple to use, with clearly stated gear ratios. The AMT gearbox, on the other hand, is a little slow and not as smooth as we would have liked.
The Fronx feels fairly sporty and nimble for a car of its size in terms of ride and handling. The suspension setting is stiffer, but it doesn’t degrade the ride quality too much. Even at high speeds, the car feels solid and steady, and the steering is perfectly weighted and provides decent input.

Also, as with the Brezza and XL6, there may be a large pricing difference between the automatic and manual versions of the Fronx 1-liter turbo model.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is an intriguing addition to the company’s range. It has a distinct and dynamic look, as well as recognizable yet dependable engine and transmission options. Although the cabin lacks creativity, it is packed with conveniences and provides enough space for passengers.
