Delhi Weekend Curfew: Delhi Covid Restrictions 2022, Guidelines and restrictions: Latest Update>>>>>> With the increase in COVID-19 cases across the country, restrictions are being imposed to curb the spread of the virus. On January 4, Delhi Government sounded a ‘red alert’ under the color-coded Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) to curb the spread of COVID-19 disease with the positivity rate in Delhi staying above 5% for two straight days. While schools, colleges, cinemas, and gyms will remain closed until further orders. Shops that deals with non-essential items will open on an odd-even basis.

वीकेंड कर्फ्यू शुक्रवार रात 10 बजे शुरू होकर सोमवार सुबह 5 बजे तक चलेगा. कई जिलों के अधिकारियों ने कहा कि कर्फ्यू के आदेश का उल्लंघन तो नहीं हुआ और लोग अनावश्यक रूप से बाहर नहीं निकले, इसकी जांच के लिए टीमें इस दौरान मैदान में रहेंगी.

“Decision has been taken by DDMA to impose a curfew in Delhi on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) to curb the surge in COVID cases. Government officials will work from home except for those engaged in essential services. Private offices to work with 50% workforce while others will work from home,” said Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, on January 4.

Other restrictions in Delhi include,

  • Night curfew to remain imposed from 10 PM to 05:00 AM.
  • Social, political, cultural, religious and festival events to be prohibited.
  • Only 20 persons will be allowed in marriages and funerals.
  • Religious places will remain open, but people will not be allowed to enter.
  • Buses and metro to function at 100%, mask is mandatory.

The new variant of  Coronavirus, Omicron, is spreading rapidly in India and it is expected that situation might worsen which can lead to another lockdown.

Delhi COVID-19 Fatality Rate

On January 5, Delhi reported 10,665 fresh COVID-19 cases (highest since May 12) and 8 deaths, taking the total number of cases to 14,74,366 while the death toll stands at 25,121.  Delhi had reported 5,481 fresh COVID-19 cases on January 4 and the positivity rate was at 8.37 per cent. On January 5, Union Health Ministry confirmed India’s first death linked to the Omicron variant. So far, a total of 2,135 cases of Omicron variant of coronavirus have been detected in the country.

In December 2021, the Indian Government wrote to eight states advising them to take immediate measures to control the sudden surge in multiple cities. The surge in COVID-19 cases in Mumbai has forced the local administration to impose restrictions in the city. “We will have to impose a lockdown in Mumbai if daily COVID cases cross the 20,000-mark,”said Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar, earlier today.

Punjab Government has also imposed a night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am across the state, excluding essential services. Educational institutes will remain closed, while bars, cinema halls, malls, restaurants and spas will be allowed to operate at 50% capacity, with staff being fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Government has imposed restrictions in view of increasing cases, flights from Delhi and Mumbai shall be restricted to twice weekly from January 5. Night curfew to remain imposed from 10 pm to 5 am. Schools, colleges, gyms, beauty parlors, tourist places remain shut.
